Chuck Close

This guy has to be one of my favourite painters. He is a part of the Super/Hyper/Photo Realist movement of the 1960/70's in NY. He uses only two table spoons of black oil paint to create these MASSIVE scale images drawn from photographs.

He explores the difference between the eye and the camera. Some of his most recent paintings include Kate Moss and Brad Pitt. In his earlier works he uses his friends as subjects.

Now paralyzed he still continues to paint these amazing works...

Just came across this guy buy chance on the internet. He focuses mainly on landscapes and nature. Love the effect of his work being 'unworldly'. All the monochrome works, like this one seem to have this airy feel to them. He takes almost mundane everyday scenes and places them in new contexts that open up many opportunities for the viewer both spatially and mentally.

Watched P.s i love you , "aw that's soo old!" yeah i know ok. well anyway i thought it was the ultimate chick flick and i loved it and will probably never watch it again. But i'll admit i cried.

Awesome opportunity for some good photos today, nice overcast, but as fate would have it i forgot my camera. So i never took this photo, but wish i did. It's actually from the 1985 issue of National Geographic photographed by Steve McCurry. Her name is Sharbat Gula, nick named 'Afghan Girl', an Afghan orphan in a refugee camp. It is said to be "the most recognized photograph" in the magazines history.

It's just a beautiful image really and even better when you know the context, like anything really.

Intro

This has nothing to do with anything, just thought it was a cool picture.

Hey, so i guess that was and introduction to what i'm into and my life really.
I've been told to write more and not just post pictures, that you guys want to know what i think about things, art , life etc...

Well i guess i'll start with me, i'm a small town girl...kinda...living in the big city for 6years now by myself. I go to University, i don't want you to find me so i'm apprehensive about writing too much...spent my childhood on a farm and somehow found a great appreciation of fashion and art...

so umm yeah, i'm not famous or anything but i think i have a pretty interesting life and have lots to say about the world...

Oh and i'm loud, really loud!
